To open a 3D model on your phone, go to the 3D model viewer in your mobile browser and pick the file from your downloads or files. It opens a GLB, glTF, STL, OBJ or PLY, renders it on the phone, and lets you spin it with touch. No app, no upload.

Here is how it works on mobile.

Open the file

  1. In your phone’s browser, open the 3D model viewer.
  2. Tap Open model and choose the file from Downloads, Files, or wherever you saved it.
  3. The model appears, framed and ready to explore.

This works the same on Android and iPhone, because it runs in the browser rather than as a separate app. The file is read on the phone and stays there.

Move around with touch

  • One finger drag orbits around the model.
  • Two-finger pinch zooms in and out.
  • Two-finger drag pans the view.

If you lose the model off-screen, use Reset to re-centre it.

Watch the file size on mobile

A phone has less graphics power than a laptop, so a heavy model (millions of triangles or large textures) can run slowly or warm the device. If a file feels sluggish, it is usually too detailed for comfortable phone viewing. The guide on reducing a 3D model’s file size covers how to make a lighter version that opens smoothly.

Same tool, every format

The mobile viewer opens the same formats as the desktop one, so a GLB from a colleague, an STL you plan to print, or a PLY scan all work the same way. See the full list in supported 3D file formats, then open the 3D model viewer on your phone.

Frequently asked questions

Can I open a 3D model on my phone without an app?
Yes. The viewer here runs in your phone's web browser, so you can open a GLB, STL, OBJ or PLY straight from your downloads or files with nothing to install. The model renders on the phone itself, and the file is never uploaded.
How do I rotate a model with touch?
Drag one finger to orbit around the model, pinch with two fingers to zoom in and out, and drag with two fingers to pan. It mirrors the mouse controls on a computer: drag to rotate, scroll to zoom, right-drag to pan.
Why is a big model slow on my phone?
Phones have less graphics power than a computer, so a model with millions of triangles or large textures can feel sluggish or warm the device. If a file struggles, a lighter version helps. See the guide on reducing a 3D model's file size for how to slim one down.
